Free & open source — built from real hospitality experience
AllerEasy is a free, open-source web app that helps UK and EU catering businesses display allergens, calories and nutrition to guests. Self-host it, brand it your way, and use it at no cost — forever.
GPL v3 licensed. The core app is free forever. Optional paid tiers add hosted services and premium features.
AllerEasy was built from direct experience managing allergen data across UK hospitality venues — wrestling with printed folders, scattered spreadsheets, and the constant pressure of keeping information accurate for guests with allergies. It became clear the industry needed a better tool, not another paid subscription. So the entire codebase is open-sourced under the GPL v3 licence. Any catering business — a single café or a multi-site group — can download it, deploy it, and use it without paying a penny.
From your existing allergen data to a live, branded guest menu — in three steps.
Clone the code from GitHub and deploy to Heroku, Railway, Render, or any server that supports Python. The README walks through every step — no developer experience needed.
Import dishes from a CSV or JSON file — the format your existing allergen spreadsheet likely already uses. Set allergens, kcals, nutrition, categories, and dietary flags per dish.
Guests browse your branded menu on any device, filter by allergen, and see kcals and nutrition at a glance. Staff still take orders — AllerEasy is an information layer, not an ordering system.
AllerEasy covers the full allergen and nutrition management workflow, out of the box.
Track every EU/UK regulated allergen per dish. The allergen converter automatically groups common variants — wheat, barley, rye, and oats all map correctly to "Cereals containing gluten".
Store and display calories, carbs, protein, fat, saturated fat, sugar, fibre, and salt per dish — supporting UK calorie labelling requirements for larger operators.
Upload your entire menu in one go from a spreadsheet or data export. No manual entry needed if you already have allergen data in a structured format.
Set your logo, colour palette, fonts, and imagery per menu type. The customer-facing menu looks like your brand — not a generic compliance tool.
Every edit to a dish is recorded — who changed it, when, and why. A clear compliance record for teams and venues where accountability matters.
Create accounts for chefs, managers, and F&B teams with appropriate permissions. Superusers manage branding and users; standard accounts manage dish data.
Any food-led business that needs to manage allergen and nutrition information for guests — from a single café to a national group.
Let guests check allergens and kcals at the table via QR code, without interrupting your service. Keep printed folders as a backup, not the primary reference.
Manage allergen information across multiple venues and seasonal menus from one dashboard. Branding can be customised per site while sharing the same dish database.
Where allergen accuracy is critical and menus change regularly, the audit trail provides a reliable compliance record. The app is free to deploy in any institutional setting.
A lightweight, self-hosted app is ideal for smaller operators who want professional allergen information without enterprise software costs.
Built on Django with a clean, documented structure. Fork it, extend it, integrate it with your EPOS or reporting tools. The code is yours to adapt under the GPL v3 licence.
Deploy once and brand independently for each venue or brand within your group. Consistent compliance, flexible presentation, zero ongoing licensing cost.
The full source code is on GitHub with a step-by-step README that takes you from zero to a live, branded allergen menu — even if you've never deployed a web app before. The core app is free — get it on GitHub. Or explore paid plans if you want us to handle hosting, setup, and premium features.
